Annie's School Garden Grants

Interested in building a school garden? Health food company Annie’s is offering to help.

The company hosts the Grants for Gardens program, a project that aims to connect kids with real food, encourage them to explore new flavors, and talk about where food comes from. Annie’s reported that the program funded more than 150 school gardens in 2011.

The program is now accepting applications for grants of $500 to help schools start a garden or $1,500 to improve or expand existing garden projects. The funds can be used to purchase seeds, gardening tools, or other supplies.

Applications are due Dec. 15, 2012. The program is open to any K-12 schools in the U.S. planning to create gardens that focus on connecting children to real food. Winners will be required to send photos and complete an evaluation of their project six months after receiving the grant.
